Th saga continues with a few more ups and downs for the Clifton and Barrington families courtesy of the Argentinian villains, the crazy Lady Virginia and Major Fisher. One more book to go in this series of five books and we get to the 1950s era.
This is a nice foray into crime fiction with an interesting detective with a disability and psychological issues along with his totally different sidekick, who together make a great team.
Even if I didn’t know this was written by JK Rowling, I would have guessed from the writing style and the trademark ‘sinister’ gamboling kittens against a pink background that resurfaced again from Harry Potter book 5 – Order of the Phoenix! The author has a deep fear of pink and kittens I think!!
A good read with plenty of gritty facts about the reality for ordinary people in World War two. This book is not for the fainthearted reader. One main character from the first book dies. It can come as a shock….
